ONEforest at Estonia's Forestry Conference

On December 1st, the findings of ONEforest Estonian studies took center stage at the prestigious National Annual Forestry Conference, themed "From Forest Science to Practice 2023," held in Tartu, Estonia. The research, spearheaded by Tea Tullus and Reimo Lutter from the Estonian University of Life Science, focused on critical aspects of forest ecology within the framework of the ONEforest project.

Exploring the Hemiboreal Forest Region in Estonia

From September 5th to 6th, the ONEforest consortium convened for its General Assembly, a gathering brimming with insights and collaborations, held in the picturesque city of Tartu, Estonia. This event was hosted by the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

The first day of the assembly was marked by a series of dynamic workshops, where we collectively crafted forest governance scenarios and initiated the formulation of crucial policy recommendations. Our efforts were focused on various key areas, including Forest Management, Wood Production, Forest Operations, Assessment of Policy, and Stakeholder Demands, all bolstered by a comprehensive Multi-criteria Decision Support framework.

ONEforest study reveals positive impacts on tree growth and soil moisture in Catalonia's mixed forests

In response to the escalating frequency of drought events, ONEforest researchers have been investigating innovative approaches to enhance forest adaptability while safeguarding vital resources like soil moisture. A recent study titled "Close-to-nature management effects on tree growth and soil moisture in Mediterranean mixed forests," conducted by researchers from  CTFC and CESEFOR, sheds light on the potential of close-to-nature forest management to promote resilient ecosystems.

Revealing the Influence of Top-Soil-Cover on Slope Stability and Erosion: Insights from the ONEforest Master's Thesis

ONEforest tool presented at the 5th Forest Innovation Workshop

Our colleague Martin Brunsmeier (from Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences) presented ONEforest at the 5th Edition of the Forest Innovation Workshop “The role of innovation in managing new challenges in the forest-based sector at the regional level in the EU” in Brussels.

First General Assembly Meeting in 2022

Between 16 – 17 February the ONEforest consortium hosted the first General Assembly Meeting of 2022 in an online format to discuss the progress and developments carried out so far.  

At first this event should have taken place in Solsona (Spain) – in the CTFC facilities - but due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was online instead. So, the scheduled Field Trip to the Case Study Region in  Catalonia -Pinus nigra forests management and harvesting operations- could not take place. However, CTFC partners showed this pilot virtually.

ONEforest presented in the annual Estonian forestry conference

On 26 November, the Estonian University of Life Sciences organised a conference "From Forest Science to Practice" dedicated to the 100th birthday of Järvselja Study and Experimental Forest, and ONEforest project was presented.

The annual Estonian forestry conference is very popular because it deals with current problems and give overwiew about new developments in Estonian forestry.

Virtual Kick Off Meeting of ONEforest project   

Between 17-18 of June, the ONEforest consortium officially started its activities with a General Assembly hosted by Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in a virtual Kick-Off Meeting.

The opening session counted with the welcome of the Research Executive Agency’s Head of Unit, Francisco Javier Peinado Lebrerom, and the European Project Officer, Nicolas Faivre.

In total, experts from the 19 European entities participating in this international research effort met during two days in different virtual sessions in order to define the demonstration activities that will be run by the project during the next three years.
